Golf Fashion Has Evolved
Golf style isn’t what it used to be — and that’s a good thing. Classic polos, crisp skirts, and fluffy golf dresses will always have their place, but there’s something refreshing about modernizing your look and adding playful, stylish touches.
Of course, it depends on the course. At my country club, sleeveless tops are fine — as long as there’s a collar. They’re more relaxed about skirt length since modern golf skirts are essentially athletic skirts (think tennis), which tend to be shorter. I’ve also played courses where skirts had to pass your fingertips. Bottom line? Golf fashion isn’t one-size-fits-all. Always check your club’s dress code, but at a local muni or range, you usually have a bit more freedom to experiment.
Sweater Season, Sort Of

September brings cooler weather — not cold enough for full bundling, but definitely sweater season. (Full disclosure: this rugby-inspired knit polo isn’t actually a sweater, but it gives that cozy, layered vibe we all crave this time of year.)
There’s something about the cozy, slightly oversized vibe of a rugby-style shirt that feels nostalgic and effortlessly chic.
Styling the Look
Instead of the bike shorts I would’ve worn years ago, I paired the polo with a clean pleated golf skirt. Add a G/FORE hat (love their subtle crossed-club emblem) and simple gold hoops, and the look feels elevated yet casual.
Jewelry & Accessories
Huggies and hoops are trending everywhere, and I’ve been especially into Hey Harper’s water-resistant styles. They’re designed for everyday wear — shower, swim, or just life-proof in general. For golf, that means I don’t stress about them while I’m on the course. Jewelry doesn’t have to scream “dressy” — it can be that small detail that shifts a baggy top and pleated skirt from sporty to stylishly put together.
I skipped the red hat because it’s not really my style — but if you’re a red-hat fan, this outfit can handle it. Just know navy can be tricky to color-match.
And can we talk about these Bombas ruffle socks? They’re the perfect nod to playful details while giving a touch of nostalgia. Cozy, fun, and just a little unexpected — exactly the vibe I wanted.
Where to Wear This Look
This isn’t the “grind it out on the range for four hours” kind of outfit. It’s more the “Thursday night round with the girls before hitting the 19th hole” or “second (or third 😉) golf date” kind of fit.
Modern, stylish, and still rooted in classic golf tradition.
Sweater season never looked so good.
